Our annual Fisher's Landing Canned Food Drive ends this Friday 12.11. While you are out shopping or cleaning out your pantry, please set aside some canned goods. This event is sponsored by our Student Council . We have a chance to make a difference for families in our own community.
So far we have received 17 items, thank you. Possible items to donate: · Rice · Noodles · Boxed pasta · Canned meats · Canned vegetables · Sauces · Soups Some other items that are important are shampoo & conditioner, soap, toothpaste & tooth brushes and laundry detergent. Let’s show that Mariner’s care! Sign up for Evergreen School District Flash Alerts to get latest school information, especially during inclement weather. http://www.flashalert.net/news.html?id=22
Math Club has begun. Mrs. Schalk, a certified teacher, will be meeting with small groups four to five days a week. This will supply our students with enrichment and extra practice to boost math achievement and confidence. I envision this program will be needs-based, short-term and focused on specific learning targets.
Conferences are scheduled for October 20th, 22nd and 23rd. Instead of prescheduling, I will post my conference schedule here. You'll need to use the scroll bars on the side and the bottom to see what is available. If you see a vacant slot that you'd like to sign up for please email me ([email protected]).
As I get your emails, I will fill in the table. Conference slots will be made on a first come first served basis so try to have 2 or 3 slots in mind in case the one you prefer gets filled. If you need to have a translator available, please let me know as soon as possible so that I may make those arrangements. I would prefer that students attend the conferences so that we may have an honest, open discussion about their goals. Conferences are 25 minutes per conference with 5 min. breaks between each conference. For the sake of all, I ask that you plan to be on time. If you are unable to attend during your scheduled time please call or email to let me know so that I can reschedule your conference. Thank you. I look forward to meeting with you and your child. Then the question comes in of what to pack the lunch in. Some obvious solutions are a brown paper lunch bag, a gallon plastic zip bag, a plastic grocery bag, etc. But what if you want to pack items that you don’t want to be squished or bruised? The best solution I have come up with is saving those plastic clam-shell baskets that fresh fruit comes in. I use a larger basket (pictured is a 2lb. strawberry basket) to hold everything and I use the smaller ones to hold sides (like blueberry/raspberry baskets). You could also pack side items in small paper cups that are covered with plastic wrap, or some items could be packed in a paper muffin cup liner. If you’re really feeling adventurous you can decorate the basket with duct tape or let your kids loose to decorate it- just for some added fun. More ideas on Pinterest! Here is the testing schedule for Room 205 students. It is very important that students be present and on-time these days. There will be make-up days available but of course those students would be out of the classroom during those times. If there are any changes to the schedule I will let you know.
Monday 04.27 Tuesday 04.28 Wednesday 05.06 Thursday 05.07 Friday 05.08 Monday 05.11 Wednesday 05.13 Monday 05.18 Tuesday 05.19 Thursday 05.28 Room 205 will be headed to the Clark Public Utilities (CPU) for a field trip on Thurs, April 2nd. We will leave promptly at 9:25 and will return to school around 12:15.
This field trip is funded through the Community Education Department of CPU and is a wonderful opportunity. Our purpose is to learn what they do there, learn some basics about how electricity works and review the water cycle, as well as issues involved with water usage. We will need at least 3 volunteers to help chaperone this field trip. Please let me know if you are interested in chaperoning. I will assign chaperones as requests come in. The district volunteer list is no longer categorized by school so I must verify each request individually. Keep in mind that all chaperones must have a valid, current background check with our school district, they expire after two years. Background checks may take up to two weeks to be cleared. Permission slips were put in student mailboxes today. Please send back the completed field trip permission slip as soon as possible but no later than Monday, March 30th. Also please do not cut on the dashed lines, we need the entire form returned. This is always a great field trip. We are looking forward to it! Order forms went home today, Wed. 03.04.15.
